Wiring regulations mean we can’t run a charging cable across a public pavement, so a standard home charger isn’t usually possible with street parking alone. What does "standard installation" include?
A dedicated circuit from your fuse box with up to 15 metres of cable, all protection devices, wall mounting, testing, commissioning, app setup, DNO notification and full electrical certification. Longer cable runs or a fuse board upgrade are the usual extras, and we confirm those at a free survey before any work starts.
How long does installation take?
Most home charger installations are completed in half a day. We confirm the schedule when we book you in.
Will it work with my car?
Yes — every charger we install uses the Type 2 connector, the standard on every new electric and plug-in hybrid car sold in the UK and Europe. Tethered chargers come with the cable attached; socket models use the cable that came with your car.
Tethered or socket — which should I pick?
Tethered means the cable is permanently attached — most convenient for daily charging on one car. A socket (untethered) unit is neater on the wall and more flexible if you change cars or have visitors charge. If you’re unsure, tethered is the popular choice.
Can it charge from my solar panels?
Yes — the Fox ESS, Zappi and Hypervolt can all divert surplus solar into your car rather than exporting it to the grid, which makes daytime charging close to free. If you have panels (or plan them), mention it and we’ll set the charger up for solar charging at handover.
Where do you install?
We install across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire from our Inverness base. Local jobs are the headline price; more remote postcodes carry a small, transparent travel allowance that’s already included in the prices you see — nothing gets added later. Ferry-only islands we price on a quick call rather than online.
Is there a discount if I’m having solar or a heat pump installed too?

Why is VAT charged on EV chargers?
Every price on this page already includes VAT at the standard 20% rate — what you see is what you pay, nothing added later. People are often surprised it isn’t VAT-free like other green technology: the government’s 0% VAT relief covers ‘energy-saving materials’ such as heat pumps, solar panels and home batteries, but home EV charge points were never added to that list — so by law every installer in the UK must charge 20% VAT on them. If you’re having solar or a battery installed too, ask us for a combined quote.
What does home charging cost to run?
This is where an EV quietly pays you back. On a standard tariff, home charging works out around 6–7p per mile — but on an overnight EV tariff at around 7p/kWh it drops to roughly 2p per mile, versus 12–16p per mile for petrol or diesel. Every charger we install supports scheduled charging, so it fills the car in the cheap window automatically. A typical driver saves well over £1,000 a year against a petrol equivalent.
